FAQ

Do I have to pay the Doctor who visits me in my hotel/apartment?

YES: The doctor will issue you an invoice so your insurance can reimburse you when you return home.

How long does it take for the doctor to arrive?

Around 30 minutes. However, our Call Centre confirms each case in order to have as much information as possible.

What languages do they speak?

The medical team speaks English and some other languages depending on the doctor that sees you.

Are there women in the team?

Yes, the IMS team consists of male and female doctors who practice medicine regularly in hospitals in the city.

Can I go straight to the hospital?

Yes, once you get in touch with our free Call Centre, we notify the closest HM Hospital (we have 6 hospitals in Madrid). The most central one is Universitario de Madrid - HM Hospitales Madrid (Pl. Del Conde del Valle de Súchil, 16), we’ll inform them of your arrival.

What advantages do I enjoy at the hospital if I have travel insurance?

With your travel insurance or medical care, you’ll be assisted in your language upon arrival at the hospital; the procedures will be managed with your insurance, prioritising you proceeding to the ER as fast as possible.

What if I need hospital admission?

In case of needing hospital admission, they’ll assign you a single room and take care of organising everything for the person who comes with you, among other things, like repatriation when needed.

What if I don’t have insurance?

You’ll have to pay for your consultation. Remember that in the Public Hospital, you’ll be charged approx. €300 (if you don’t have an EHIC) and you won’t be assisted in your language. You’ll also have to wait in line at the ER. And if you need to be admitted, you won’t have a single room for you and your companion.

Can I request an ambulance?

In case of needing an ambulance, we’ll manage it and notify the hospital of your arrival. This ambulance service is included in most of insurance coverage for international clients so you won’t have to pay for it.
